Nancy’s love for flowers and plants was instilled while helping her mother tend to her flower and vegetable gardens and potted plants. Growing up in the suburban Detroit area, she tended the herb and flower gardens of Greenfield Village (part of the Henry Ford Museum) for several summers. Her studies in horticulture at Michigan State University led her to an internship at Old Westbury Gardens on Long Island which resulted in a permanent position. While living on Long Island, Nancy toured many spectacular gardens and wholesale nurseries several of which still supply Earth Garden today. As part of a collaborative partnership, Nancy acquired Earth Garden in 1991 which was then located on Route 123 in New Canaan. As sole proprietor today, Nancy continues to operate in downtown New Canaan and in her neighboring hometown of Wilton, CT.
